Field Machinists
Competition #: AL-2016-073

We are currently accepting applications for two (2) Field Machinists. These positions will support our Oil Sands clients. The shifts will consist of 12 hour day shifts, 7 days on, 7 days off rotation. However, hours, location and schedule may change due to operational requirements. This is a local position in the Fort McMurray region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
• Operate machine tools such as: Horizontal boring mill, conventional type mill, lathes, surface grinder, radial drill and portable align boring equipment.
• Operate metal shaping machines, such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines.
• Repair worn parts of metal products.
• Attend toolbox talks and safety meetings as scheduled.
• Actively participate in the shop safety program and maintain strict adherence to OH&S guidelines.
• Additional duties as they may arise that would fulfill the mandate of providing excellent service to the client.

Job Qualifications:Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years proven Field Machining experience.
• Journeyman Machinist.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean operator’s abstract.
• Ability to concentrate on detailed work for long periods; including strong vision and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to complete all work in compliance with Alberta legislation, regulations and site policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of metals, relevant product codes, regulations and laws.
• Knowledge of applied mathematics (e.g., fractions, measuring) and geometry.
• Must be able to work from heights or confined spaces.
• Developed organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Intermediate computer skills and initiative to keep up to date with changing technology.
• Excellent problem solving and mathematical calculation skills.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with a team of a diverse workforce.
• Proven ability to react appropriately in emergency situations.
• Proven ability to work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
• Must be physically fit to perform all duties of the position including extensive walking, climbing and awkward positions as well as carrying heavy materials (5-50 lbs), while ensuring Personal Protect Equipment (PPE) is used as required.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
• Drug, Alcohol and Audio pre-employment test.
• CSTS & OSSA/ BSO certificates are required.
• Class 5 License with clean Driver’s abstract obtained within 30 days.
• Must be eligible to work on all client sites (eligible for all Oilsands Sites within the region).
