Camp Manager

Job Description:Reporting to the General Manager, this Camp Manager position is based in the Fort McMurray region. This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the facility; that is housekeeping, food and beverage, janitorial and guest services. The successful candidate will participate fully in decision making for the whole property as a member of the Property Management Team. The normal work rotation will consist of a twenty (20) days on and ten (10) days off, with twelve (12) hour work days.

This position is a safety sensitive position, and as such requires a pre-employment drug, alcohol and fit to work test.

Job Responsibilities:
•Ensuring maximum guest satisfaction.
•Fostering and maintaining a positive lodge environment and experience for both clients and staff.
•Enforcing Horizon North’s rules and regulations to all lodge occupants.
•Ensuring that Horizon North’s standards are upheld and maintained on a daily basis regarding food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and safe work practices.
•Monitoring and control costs associated with the lodge (food, labor, equipment and consumable costs).
•Communicating and reinforcing workers’ responsibilities.
•Delegating lodge duties and supervision through workplace inspections.
•Ensure employees are following safe work procedures and promote the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) program in the field.
•Supporting regular safety inspections from Head Office HSE personnel.
•Attending and conduct safety meetings.
•Completing all required HSE/Incident Investigation documentation and forward to the office in a secure and timely manner.
Job Qualifications:•Post-secondary (Certificate/Diploma) education in a related discipline; Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
•Four to Six years’ experience in Food and Beverage / Housekeeping / Guest Services, including at least four years supervisory experience. Remote site experience preferred;
•Respect for coworkers and the willingness and ability to assist other departments as required are paramount;
•Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the hospitality profession, including experiential knowledge for management of people and complex problems;
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
•Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently under minimal supervision;
•Display initiative, creativity and innovation in achieving results; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities;
•Possess strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills, and be detail oriented;
•Must be able to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals and/or guests;
•Working knowledge of federal, provincial and local laws governing human rights, occupational health and safety, and employee & labour relations;
•Proficient with MS Office Suite and Property Management Software - INNfinity experience preferred;
•Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; and
•Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license and clean drivers abstract.
